Customer Review: Great 32" LCD
Have had plasma flat screens before but was enticed by a local merchant to try the LCD. I have no complaints other than it has no head phone jack. The quality of picture is outstanding and a Bluray DVD is just phenomenal. Very happy with my purchase. It arrived timely and had no flaws.

This tv has a great picture and is easy to operate. Im more than satisfied with it

Choosing the right technology

Plasma and LCD TVs look the same, but they are not. Some features or options don't differ a lot, but these are the major differences:

Size

If you arfe looking for an extra large TV, go for a plasma. Plasma TVs are the current size champions, particularly when comparing TVs that consumers can easily purchase. LCDs are catching up in size with their developing technology, however, and may surpass Plasmas in the near future. This may be due to difficulties in producing glass large enough for larger plasmas.

Burn-ins

With the latest plasma technology, this is less of an issue than ever before. The Pixel Orbitor, for example, is a method of reducing burn-in used by plasma manufacturers. It requires no additional programing from the end user as some older burn-in prevention techniques did.
Note: If you plan to use a plasma for gaming, some games with permanent 'dashboards' may still cause some burn-in. If you will be using the television for display use only, go for an LCD. Plasmas are more likely to get burned-in pixels.

Miscellaneous

- LCD TVs are far less fragile than plasmas. This is also an advantage when the tv set has to be shipped or moved to a different location.

- LCD TVs are also much easier to install than plasma TVs.

- LCD TVs have a better performance at high altitudes.

- LCD TVs are often cheaper than plasma TVs. The difference in pricing is getting smaller, however.

Ofcourse, all this information is available all over the web. For a detailed comparison sheet, I recommend using Wikipedia's comparison sheet.

Flat Screen TV comparison, dont get it wrong

If you have made a choice between plasma and LCD (I'll name it Flat screen TV from now on), you can pick a TV of your choice. Flat screen TV comparison will able you to find out exactly what you want and whatll fit the budget.

Brands

The following brands are being considered as the best manufacturers of Flat screen TVs:

- Hitachi

- Panasonic

- Philips

- Pioneer

- Samsung

If you are looking for a product with outstanding quality, we recommend choosing one of these brands.

Features

Different Flat screen TVs have different features. Most of these features look the same, but there are a couple of unique features as well:

- Ambilight

- HD ready or not?

- Picture in Picture

There are lots of comparison website available, but you will have to know how to use them. Filter the models by brand, price and features and the choice will be a lot easier.

He is always interested in the latest features and the latest technologies, and an absolute Hifi-geek. Occasionaly, Kensington writes for a large reviewing website as well.

When the time comes to buy an HDTV, the first question that often comes up is: LCD or Plasma? Those are the two major types of HDTVs that are popular today. Each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. We'll help to clear the air and assist you in making a well-informed purchasing decision.

Inside of a plasma TV, lots of tiny gas particles are precisely charged with electricity in order to create a picture. In LCDs, a sandwich of liquid crystals combined with backlighting are used to create the picture.

Because of this difference in backlighting, plasmas can do a slightly better job of displaying black levels when compared to LCDs. More precisely, this is due to the fact that the backlighting on LCDs is always on, so there's a chance for some light to leak out during dark scenes.

This might also mean that you'll get higher contrast and detail from plasmas when judging those dark scenes in movies and TV shows. Experts also say that plasmas have better color saturation thanks to the lack of light leakage found in LCDs.

Plasmas also have slightly better viewing angles when compared to LCD. Now LCDs have started to catch up to the plasmas but plasma still holds a slight edge. Typically, when viewing an LCD from more extreme angles, there will be some degree of color and/or brightness shift.

Plasma fans will also say that image blur is more of a problem with LCDs. But with newer technology like 120Hz refresh rate screens, the difference is negligible.

Price wise, LCDs are about the same or in some cases, cheaper than plasmas. Historically, plasmas have been available in larger sizes although there are super expensive special model LCDs that can match the size of some of the larger plasmas.

In terms of image resolution, LCD has the edge. Inch for inch, LCDs tend to have higher native resolution when compared to their plasma cousins. This means that there's more pixels packed in the same size screen which means better image detail.

LCDs are lighter and use much less electricity than plasmas. LCDs have a tendency to have longer lifespan than plasmas. In some cases as much as 30,000 hours longer than plasmas.

Burn-in can be an issue with plasmas. Again, technology has come to the rescue so it's less of an issue now. But even in cases of burn-in, if you give the plasma a few days, there's a decent chance for the burned-in image to go away.

For larger TVs (50+ inches) plasmas offers the most value with its slightly better image quality. For smaller TVs (42 inches and less) LCD is the better deal. On the bright side, if you're willing to wait, chances are good you'll get a better LCD set thanks to continuous rapid developments in LCD technology.

In the end, the best way to buy a good TV is go down to the show room and look at some of these models for yourself. Or better yet, go to high end home theater shop or your friends house. Chances are much better that the TV will be in a more natural environment where you can fairly judge the image qualities of the TV in question.

Trust me, you don't want to look at a HDTV in an overly bright showroom environment with all kinds of brightly lit eye candy flashing on and off in the immediate vicinity.

I recently had the pleasure and the misfortune to shop for a new television. Now I have been a rear projection screen man for almost ten years, but with the new evolution of the Plasma and LCD technology I was soon to become the newest convert in the evolution of digital television.

It was not by choice that I made this decision, but by necessity. I was the proud owner of a sixty inch rear projection screen television that decided upon itself one cold Saturday morning to go on the blink. After making several phone calls to the hard to find television service techs, the decision was made that it was time to purchase a new television.

Now if that shopping experience wasn't painful enough when looking at the price tags on these high tech devices, just making the decision between plasma and LCD took a considerable amount of time. I finally made my decision, bit the bullet and spent a considerable amount of dollars on what I considered to be my best choice. Then came the bomb shell, the HDMI cables!

After making all those decisions, it was time for the salesman to explain to me about the HDMI cable that was necessary in order for me to have the picture quality that my new plasma screen television demanded. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that this is where most of the big chain electronic stores make the bulk of their profit, but WOW, the price on these cables was through the roof. Then the big question in my mind, are they really necessary?

The answer to that is both yes and no. If you are in to electronics as I am, then you will be sure to notice the difference in picture quality. If you are a novice at all of this, well then you may never notice the difference. Here are a few questions you may want to ask yourself before spending big dollars on cables:

Will not using these high end cables hurt your equipment? No it will not.

Do the other devices in your theater array have the current technology to make the difference in picture quality? If not, then you may want to either replace that equipment as well, or work with what you have.

Does your local cable company support HD, and how many channels are available in HD at this time? In my area, HD channels at this time are scarce.

Can I get these cables at a better price? Yes you certainly can and about a third of the cost that even the big discount outlets like those that start with the letter "W", if you get my drift.

It's a big dollar purchase, go at it with a strategy. Know what your maximum budget is before you go shopping and do your research, research research before making any purchase.

Back in the day, 10 or 15 years ago, the whole world knew that you had satellite TV. You purchased a big satellite dish, no, a really BIG satellite dish and planted it in your yard pointed at the stars and ran some cables from the dish into your home to boxes that sat atop your television. With that you could get channels on your TV from anywhere in the world, if the dish was pointed just right. You could also get no channels at all if the wind was blowing too hard.

With the old time satellite TV dishes every television in the house that was hooked up to the dish would have to watch the same channel at the same time. Believe it or not, a lot of people actually hooked more than one television to the same dish, too. Maybe they did it because the whole family didn't want to be in the same room together or maybe simply to be able to watch TV in several rooms in the house.

You were more likely to see the big satellite dishes in rural and remote areas where there was no cable TV to be had. It was really their only option if they wanted to watch more than just the standard three local channels and some people couldn't even get those three. In the city everybody had cable because they didn't really have the room in their yards for the large satellite dishes.

Times have certainly changed. Satellite TV is still around but the dishes are very small and sit on top or attached to the side of your house. They take up no yard space at all, and even city dwellers are doing satellite now. Many are doing it because of the lower cost of satellite TV services verses the cable bill. Others simply like the quality that satellite can offer them and feel that overall satellite TV is better than cable.

Satellite TV has also seen and welcomed many new television stations than ever before. You can get your hands on a budget friendly package that will offer you more hooks within your home, more television channels and even some movie channels for a fraction of the cost you would pay for a cable bill.

So which one is better: Satellite or Cable? That really depends on who you ask. For most it is a personal preference so the old saying "seeing is believing" is something that you should take in consideration. If you haven't tried satellite, now is the best time to do so!

Direct TV is the nation's leading provider of satellite television services. For the best in sports programming, movies, and high-definition entertainment, check out the latest Direct TV deals.

Are you looking for an original but practical gift for the holiday season? A Mac compatible digital voice recorder may be the best buy. Two of the most popular lines of Mac compatible voice recorders are Olympus and Philips. These devices are digital audio recorders that records sound via flash memory and can convert it to WAV files or MP3 files for PC computer use. (You can use a USB port for fast communication) In years passed, the only operating system that supported this type of compression and transfer was Windows. Therefore, news of the Macintosh compatible digital voice recorder and Mac-compatible software like the high compression DSS Player (Digital Speech Standard) were exciting to Apple fans.

What are some of the best features about these Mac compatible digital voice recorders? You can adjust the microphone to record meetings involving multiple voices, or your own voice or even softer sounds. With some models you get an FM tuner which you can then use to record full songs on the radio. You will enjoy hearing the 3-D stereo sound made possible by WOW XTTM audio technology. The large LCD screen also displays the artist and gives you helpful information.

You never have to worry about running out of tape or going over your memory capacity. The best Macintosh compatible digital voice recorders can record 500 hours or more of high quality audio with stereo sound. You can choose a digital video recorder with a stereo microphone that comes designed as a tie clip (and provides perfect positioning for recording) or you can use the high-tech voice activation feature. This feature lets the user automatically start recording as soon as a voice is detected.

Not only can you record and transfer audio files, but on some models equipped with USB Mass Storage you can also store important documents and photographs. You have the power to manipulate your audio recordings with the DSS Player and either slow them down (ideal for transcribing) or speed them up for special audio effects. There are also built in features like a Voice Filter function and Noise Cancel function to protect your audio content from air conditioner noise and other distracting noises that distract from the words being spoken. On your digital voice recorder Macintosh compatible system you can lock important files and protect them from accidentally being erased or erase as many files as you choose.

A Mac compatible digital voice recorder will make a great gift for a busy professional who wants to dictate important notes throughout the day or even a child who wants to record his own songs off the radio. With all the extra features, and now a Mac-friendly operational system, expect these Mac compatible digital voice recorders to be a top seller this holiday season.

Today kids are becoming fascinated with technology at much younger ages. Even toddlers and preschoolers want a digital camera of their own. Parents may wonder which is the best option for their child or if there is a kids digital camera that is rugged enough to take the abuse that young children often dish out. There are some great products out there that have great digital camera reviews. Here is a look at some of the top rated digital cameras for kids.

Fisher Price Digital Camera

The Fisher Price Digital Camera is made specifically for preschoolers and kids up to about age 7. It has large handles that are rubber for easy gripping. The tough design makes it hard to break and if kids drop it, it is no big deal. It has a 1.6" color LCD screen so that kids can see the pictures they have taken right away. It has 1.3 megapixels and 8MB of internal memory, enough for about 60 pictures. It also has a slot for an SD card. You can connect it to the computer with the USB cord so that they can share their pictures online. It has an auto flash feature and a wrist band. It also comes in either pink or blue. The digital camera reviews on this product are excellent. It runs about $55.

Vtech Kidizoom Camera

This is a great kids digital camera and the digital camera reviews support it. Parents rave that their kids love this camera. It has a connector cable that lets kids use it with the TV or the computer. It also has fun games and movies on it that kids love. It also has a neat editing feature that lets kids do wacky and fun things to their pictures. It has large handles for easy gripping, and a double viewer and LCD screen to make taking pictures a snap. It is a great preschool digital camera that, even though it is new, has already won several awards. The cost for this top rated kids digital camera is between $55 and $60.

These are the top two digital cameras for kids. Both are great products that have excellent digital camera reviews. Keep in mind that the picture quality is not going to be great because it is a kids digital camera. It is made to be durable, and both claim to be virtually indestructible. Either one of these cameras would be a great choice for a preschooler who loves to take pictures.
